Bring inside any dog toys or training equipment that may get damaged or swept away by the flood. If your home has a second floor or an attic, move your family members, pets, and any essential items upstairs. If not, move to the highest ground available, like a countertop.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Does_Louisiana_have_no-kill_shelters\"><\/span>Does Louisiana have no-kill shelters?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Northshore Humane Society is Louisiana&#8217;s largest not for profit, no-kill animal welfare organization. Since 1953, the St. Tammany Humane Society has been serving the unwanted, neglected, abandoned, and abused animals of the gulf coast region.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Are_there_kill_shelters_in_New_Orleans\"><\/span>Are there kill shelters in New Orleans?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>We are the only no-kill shelter in the New Orleans area. When rain falls, burrowing animals may respond by simply building out their burrows. By digging at upward or curving angles, animals can prevent their burrows from completely flooding.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_do_you_do_with_pets_during_disaster\"><\/span>What do you do with pets during disaster?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Bring your pet indoors.
