The centre was originally opened in 1924 when its founder Louisa Snow realised that there was the growing number of abandoned and injured animals seen on the streets of London following WWI.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_is_Lancashire_PAWS_Cat_Rescue\"><\/span>Where is Lancashire PAWS Cat Rescue?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Lancashire Paws Cat Rescue. Rehoming in and around <b>Bolton and Bury (area covered can be flexible if needed). Cats are vet checked, neutered, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and will have at least started a course of vaccinations for flu, enteritis and leukaemia before adoption.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_many_animals_are_rescued_each_year_UK\"><\/span>How many animals are rescued each year UK?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It is estimated that our pet population last year was an incredible 9 million dogs and 8 million cats. That means that an estimated 44% of households own a pet. However, with so many pets across the country, sometimes things go wrong.
