Is mouse and hamster food the same?
Hamsters require food that has a high fat and protein content whilst mice do not do well with a huge intake of fat thanks to their very delicate stomachs. This will pose many problems housing them together as they will need to be on completely different feed mixes.
What should you not feed mice?
These foods include walnuts, raw beans, rhubarbs, onions, raisins and grapes. Never feed a mouse any of these foods, period. Wheat, lettuce and corn are all also inappropriate for mice, as they can bring on tummy distress and loose stools in the poor little guys.
Is hamster food OK for rats?
Most hamster and gerbil foods contain too many grasses for rats to thrive off of because grass/hay is nutritionally unavailable to them. It’s not recommended you feed your rat hamster or gerbil food
Can other animals eat hamster food?
The answer is: Yes, they can.But they shouldn’t. Hamster food is not the best for them to eat, and it shouldn’t be fed to them purposely for a long period. However, if they were to just nibble some occasionally, it should be fine.
